Conflict in the Middle East

On Saturday, 28 February 2026, we witnessed conflict involving the United States of America, Israel, and Iran. As a result, several airports have closed and numerous flights have been delayed, rerouted, or cancelled, affecting many travellers to and from South Africa.

 

As this is an ongoing developing event we urge policy holders and travel agents to keep in direct contact with the relevant airlines and authorities on contingency plans, the latest travel schedules and travel information.

Conflict in Eastern Europe – Travel insurance policies suspended

We have suspended the issuing of new policies and cover to Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine with effect from 17 March 2022. All policies issued will be endorsed to exclude cover to these countries.

 

We will continue to monitor the situation and update the market accordingly. Our thoughts are with all those impacted by this conflict.

Leisure - you are going on holiday

 

Business - you are travelling for business and not for holiday. You may include some holiday days in your business trip. It may however not be more than 50% of your entire insured journey.



Single Trip is a single journey that start and end in South Africa 

 

Multi Trip is multiple journeys within an insured period (on a policy) that start and end in South Africa, these policies may also be renewed for a further insured period (subject to Bryte's approval) - see terms and conditions

Point of departure

The country you are departing from to start your journey. 

Destination

The main destination you are travelling to. Your destination will be included on your embassy letter to be used for visa purposes.

Departure date

The date you depart from your country residence. If you already departed your country of residence and is on your journey, your policy will not respond to any claims. cover will NOT apply if you are already on your international journey.

Return date

The date you arrive back in your country of residence
